This star owl attracts all eyes. Blue as the sea in a storm, red as the will to freedom, snow-white as a dream, strewn with stars falling from the night sky, this coaster symbolizes America – strong, fearless, independent. This is your little flag in the heart and on the table. For people who do not remember their past have no future.

Instructions.

Body.

Round 1: Magic ring with white color, ch 3, *1 dc, 1 ch*  repeat 11 times in ring. Change the color and join with ss in ch2 with red color yarn. (12 sts).

Now the time to make cluster stitches. Crochet clusters are very simple to make. But beginner crocheters might need visual help. (find the detailed tutorial in my first owl coaster )

Round 2: we start with ch 2 (it counts as 1st dc), make a dc into the same beginning space, but we don’t finish dc, leaving the last loop on the hook. And we make another dc into the same space, again leaving its last loop unfinished on the hook. Then we make one more unfinished double crochet into the same beginning space. We have four loops on the hook. We draw yarn through all four loops.

The cluster is made! Then 2 chain.*We work four unfinished double crochets into the same space. We have five loops on the hook. And we draw yarn through four loops. Now we have two loops on the hook and draw yarn through two loops.  2 chain,* repeat till the end. Change the color and join with ss in ch2 with white color yarn. We have 12 clusters or 12 Dc-4-tog.

Round 3:  1 sc in the beginning space, then ch 2, three unfinished double crochet into the same beginning space, draw yarn through all loops, ch 2, *1 dc in the top of the previous round dc, ch 2, 1 Dc-4-tog (or 1 cluster stitch), ch 2* repeat till the end. Change the color and join with ss in ch 2 with red color yarn. We have 12 clusters or 12 Dc-4-tog.

Round 4: 1 sc in the beginning space, then ch 2, three unfinished double crochet into the same beginning space, draw yarn through all loops, ch 2, * 1 Dc-4-tog (or 1 cluster stitch), ch 2* repeat till the end. Change the color and join with ss in ch 2 with blue color yarn.  We have 23 clusters or 23 Dc-4-tog. Break yarn and fasten off.

Round 5: 1 sc in the beginning space with blue color, then ch 2, three unfinished double crochet into the same beginning space, draw yarn through all loops, ch 2, *1 back post stitch double crochet (Yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from back to front between the posts of the first and second double crochet in the row below, and then from front to back again between the posts of the second and third stitches.

The hook should now be positioned horizontally in front of the double crochet that you’re working around), ch 2, 1 Dc-4-tog (or 1 cluster stitch), ch 2* repeat till the end,

join with ss in ch2.  We have 23 clusters or 23 Dc-4-tog. Break yarn and fasten off.
