Do you use coasters? And do you prefer crocheted or wooden coasters? I like to crochet coasters because so I can make any coasters I like ( I mean such shape, color and style I like). And today I want to share with you my Unicorn Coaster crochet pattern.

PATTERN.

The ornament consists of 2 parts of head and 4 parts of ears, dress and braid. The dress is decorated with the embroidment. Ok, let’s start!

Materials:

  • Any cotton 100% Weight/Yardage 50g/137yds: Cascade Ultra Pima Fine, 100% cotton or Schachenmayr Catania, etc.
  • Size D/3 (3 mm) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations (US terms):

ch – chain

st st – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sk – skip

st(s) – stitch(es)

Skill Level: Easy

Instructions.

Head.

Round 1: Magic ring with white color, 6 sc in ring and pull tight. (6 sts)

Round 2: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (12 sts)

Round 3: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts). Move marker.

Round 4: sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts). Move marker.

Round 5: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st* repeat around. (36 sts). Move marker.

Round 6: sc in each chain stitch around. (36 sts). Move marker.

Round 7: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st* repeat around. (54 sts). Move marker.

Round 8: sc in each chain stitch around. (54 sts).

Round 9: sc in each chain stitch around. (54 sts).

Round 10: *2 sc in next st, 1sc in next st*repeat around. (81 sts). Move marker.

Round 11 – 12: sc in each chain stitch around. (81 sts). Break yarn and fasten off.

Ears.

Round 1: Magic ring with white color, 6 sc in ring and pull tight. (6 sts)

Round 2: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (12 sts)

Round 3: 2 sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts)

Round 4: sc in each chain stitch around. (24 sts)

Round 5: *2 sc in next st, 1sc in next st*repeat around. (36 sts). Move marker.

Round 6: sc in each chain stitch around. (36 sts). Break yarn and fasten off.

Make 2 ears.

Flowers.

Now let’s crochet small flowers of different colors.

Round 1 (first and only): Magic ring, *3 ch, 2 tr, 3 ch, ss* repeat from * to * 5 times. Break yarn, fasten off and pull tight.

Make 5 flowers of different colors.

Ear hole

Row 1: Ch 11 with yellow color yarn, dc in the 4th st from the hook, dc in the next 7 sts. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in the next 8 sts. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, skip next st, dc in the next 7 sts together. Pull tight. Break yarn.

Make 2 parts.

Horn

Row 1: Ch 6, hdc in the 3rd st from the hook, hdc in the last 3 sts. Turn.

Row 2-5: Ch 2, 1 hdc in the next 4 sts and turn.

Row 6: Ch 2, skip next st, dc in the next 3 sts together. Pull tight. Break yarn.

Make 2 parts.

Leaves.

Row 1: Magic ring, ch 3 and 3 dc in the ring together. Pull tight. Break yarn.

Make 4 parts.

Assembling.

Sew the ears to the heads using white color yarn. Sew the ear holes to the ears with yellow color yarn as you can see at the pictures below.

Sew some stitches on the front part of the horn as you can see at the picture below. Sew 2 parts of the horn with yellow color yarn. Sew the horn to the head with yellow color yarn.

Make 5 small knots of different colors yarn.

Glue the flowers and the leaves as you can see at the pictures below using the hot glue gun. Then glue the small knots inside of each flower as you can see below. Or sew them with the same colors yarn as the flowers and leaves made.
