If you saw my Three Roses Bag you know that I like flower purses. This one I named Brown Flower Bag and it’s bright but classically stylish. There is a small bracelet with embroidered roses that I made for this bag and you can see it on the pictures above. And I will post the pattern soon. And now I share the Brown Flower Bag pattern with you.

SPECIALTY STITCH:

bp ss = Back Post ss.

Insert hook into designated hole from BACK to front, insert hook into next hole from FRONT to back. Your hook is now laying over a post, yarn over and pull through both holes, and the loop on hook. BACK POST SS made.

Row 1:Magic ring with red color. *4 chain, sc*, repeat from *to * 3 times. Do not join. Pull tight.

Row 2: *1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc, all in the next chain space*. Repeat from * to * in each chain space around. Do not join. (3 petals)

Note: Look at the center of the flower. You’ll see a center hole that was made by the stitches of row 1, and 3 holes made by the stitches of row 2. The sides of the holes are called the “posts”. The stitches of row 3 will be worked around these posts.

Row 3: working in the hole made from the last petals, insert hook from BACK to front, around the post and into the next hole from front to back. Yarn over and pull through both holes, and the loop on hook. BACK POST SS made. ch 5, *bp ss around the next post, ch 5,* repeat from * to * around, ss in first ch. (3 spaces).

Row 4: * 1 sc, 5 dc, 1 sc in next ch-5 space.* Repeat from * to * around. (3 petals) Make ss in the first petals. Break yarn and fasten off.

Pull tight, break yarn and fasten off. Then using fingers shape the rose.

Assembling

  • Let’s sew flowers to the front of our bag.

Fill in the blanks with the help of embroidery.

 Rose embroidery.

Thread your needle with yarn through the center to the edge. I’ve used a yarn needle with large eye. Create the base of the rose: first thread the yarn through the middle then back through the edge. Do this to make 5 legs roughly equal distance apart.

133

Wrap the yarn over and under each leg, pulling tight enough for the yarn to keep its shape. Make sure not to distort the crocheted foundation too much.

Over, under, over, under. The rose keeps growing!

144

When the yarn covers the legs at the edges it’s complete.

Sew a lot of small roses in the blank places.

And then sew the small check of blue, pink and yellow color.

  • Now join your two bag parts wrong sides together. Try to line up them up so they match. You are going to sc around the outside of them to attach them and you want to them to be perfectly lined up. Now stick your hook through both sides and pull the yarn through and sc with the brown
