Turn round on 90 degrees and continue with 3 ch, and then make tr and dtr together.
You made the first owl ear. Break yarn and fasten off.
Make another ear just like the one you just made. 3 ch, and then make tr and dtr together.
For my size blanket (34 inches (86 cm) high and 29 inches (74 cm) wide) I made 15 yellow and 15 pink owls.
Eye.
Round 1: Magic ring with pink or yellow color, ch 2, 11 dc in ring, join with ss in ch2. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2, 1 dc in the same st, 2 dc in each chain stitch around, join with ss in ch 2. (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, 1 dc in the same st, 1 dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st* repeat around, join with ss. (36 sts). Break yarn and fasten off.
Time to decorate our eyes. I used slip stiches as you can see at the picture below.
Assembling
- Let’s sew eyes to the front of our owl.
- Then make some stitch to make the beak. Our owl is finished.
Lay your owls out in a chequerwise: pink, then yellow owl, then again pink, and again yellow.
First you should make the strips from 5 owls.
So you will have 6 such strips. Sew each strip together.
Sew them beginning with next stitch after 2 dc as you can see at the picture below.
Then lay 2 strips and fix them in the middle parts as you can see at the picture below.
Then carefully straighten them, that there would be no wrinkles and fix them in the ear’s areas. I used markers for fixing, you can use them or pins or whatever you want!
And now let’s sew 2 strips together. Do not rush. Sew all 6 strips together and you’ll have the blanket about 34 inches (86 cm) high and 29 inches (74 cm) wide. Surely you can add or remove owls to make the blanket of your own size. Each owl is about 7 inches (18 cm) high and 5.5 inches (14 cm) wide.
But the size of your owls will depend on the yarn and crochet hook you’ll choose.
